Plant Adaptations to Wildfire
March 31, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Think a wildfire can’t burn in New England? Think again. This class covers fire history in New England and discusses native plant adaptions and responses to fire. After an indoor portion examining plant adaptions through case studies, we move outdoors to the Montague Plains Wildlife Management Area, where we investigate the signs of wildfire in the Pioneer Valley. The class also addresses fire as a process and ecosystem shaper.
