Just Roots presents: Raising Your Own Meat and Eggs

If you have ever tasted fresh eggs and bacon, you know there is a huge difference in quality and taste over what you can purchase at your local grocery store. Have you ever thought about a flock of backyard chickens or raising your own Thanksgiving turkey? Have a little room in the backyard for a pig but think it is simpler to buy it from the butcher’s shop? This class will cover the ins and outs of raising your own meat and eggs, including chickens, turkeys and pigs. Topics include breed selection, nutrition, space and housing needs, basic first-aid, fencing, slaughter options and budgetary facts and figures. This class is geared toward first-time livestock owners.
