Forestry Walk & Maple Sugar Morning

April 10, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 pm

Forests give us so many benefits: They provide clean air & water, habitat for wildlife, and wood for things you use every day. On Sunday, April 10 from 10 am – 11:30 am,  forester Tom Jenkins of Blue Dog Foresrty will lead a guided tour of working forest lands in different stages of growth at his land in Westhampton. Learn about what a forester does and how harvesting trees can be done in a sustainable, low-impact way. Including with oxen!

Family-friendly walk on Tom’s own trails. Be prepared for about a 2-mile hike, with some moderate hills. The trail is on Tob Hill and affords a great view of the Valley and the Mt. Holyoke Range.

If you like, after the walk–or before–sit down at Steve’s Sugar Shack and enjoy hearty pancakes and local maple syrup! They are open 7 a.m to 1 p.m. (The meal is on your own, not part of the outing, but it’s a great bonus and an opportunity to support a local farm.)

Maximum of 25 participants, so please RSVP for directions to office@kestreltrust.org.

Event is open to the public: Just sign up so we know you’re coming! (Free or pay what you wish to help support our programs.)

Please Note: RSVPs for weekend outings MUST be received before 5 pm on the Friday prior to the outing. Thank you!
