Farm and Forest Tour at Hickory Gardens

Jono Neiger and his family moved onto their 3-acre property in Leverett in 2004. Since that time they have been busy planting gardens, orchards, kiwi vineyards, a forest garden and renovating their home to be more energy efficient and ecological. Jono is a founding partner of the Regenerative Design Group, a faculty member at the Conway School of Landscape Design and has a diverse background in ecology, conservation, restoration, land stewardship, permaculture, horticulture, and landscape design.
Brook’s Bend Farm: 12:30pm to 2:00pm
Suzanne Webber and Al Miller bought this 90-acre farm in Montague in 2003 and have gradually diversified what it offers. They manage 65 acres of forestland and have recently worked to improve wildlife habitat along the edges of their fields using forestry and silvo-pasturing. The farm is home to many diversified enterprises and is a demonstration site for forest management and permaculture techniques.
