APR event for landowners: Flapjacks & Farm Chats at North Hadley Sugar Shack
March 12 @ 8:30 am - 10:00 am
FreeOn Tuesday March 12, the Massachusetts Dept. of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) will host its first ‘Flapjacks & Farm Chats’ informational session for local farmers and landowners interested in learning about the Agricultural Preservation Restriction (APR) Program.
Faced with rising land costs, Massachusetts is projected to lose much of its farmland if action is not taken. The APR program provides funding directly to farmers to preserve access to farmlands for generations to come. APR has protected close to 1,000 farms totaling over 75,000 acres in its more-than 40-year history.
Approximately $10 million in funding is available through the program this year.
MDAR welcomes all interested farmers and landowners to the North Hadley Sugar Shack for free breakfast, followed by a conversation about the benefits of placing land into APR. Interested parties are requested to RSVP here in advance.
